Legislative Advocacy

You Can Make A Difference with Legislative Advocacy

CAFAF legislative advocacy tracks bills, legislation and issues relevant to foster, adoptive and relative caregivers. Effective Legislative Advocacy helps influence those who make the laws and policies concerning children and families. It doesn’t matter what party you support, we need you to get involved.

Know Your Representatives

The best place to start to make your voice heard on any legislation is to contact your own representatives. Who represents you in Congress and at the state level? Visit usa.gov/elected-officials and type in your address for a complete list.

Follow Legislation

When you learn of legislation that has been introduced that will affect you, your loved ones, or an issue you care about, you can keep track of that bill’s path through the legislature.

For bills at the statewide level, visit cga.ct.gov. Click on the My Bills button to sign up for email alerts for specific legislation.

For bills at the federal level, visit congress.gov. If you’d like to sign up for legislative alerts, either by bill or resolution number or by subject, follow the instructions here.
