|Extension of Moratorium on Adolescents Being Discharged from Care
Effective 1/1/21, the moratorium on adolescents being discharged from our care has been extended thru 9/30/21. Unless approval has been granted by the Commissioner or designee, youth will continue to have access to supports and services during the pandemic.
Therefore, prior to September 30, 2021, the Department shall not
- issue a DCF-800, “Notice of Proposed Denial, Suspension, Reduction, or Discontinuance of Benefits”, for non-compliance reasons or due to a recipient reaching the age of twenty-three.
- schedule a fair hearing, or issue a fair hearing decision for any youth who may have received a DCF-800 prior to March 1, 2020.
This decision to re-institute all eligibility requirements will be posted on the Department’s website and shall be communicated to youth by their assigned social workers as to what provisions of post-majority services apply to their particular situation.
