When people think about foster care, it may be clear what a gift it is to a child who has experienced abuse or neglect to be taken in, cared for and nurtured. What people may not know, is what a gift it can be for the foster parents, other family members and even to the biological family. Our recruitment event “The Gift of Foster Care”, will provide stories about the unexpected gifts that come from families taking the chance to open their homes and their hearts to children in need. There are approximately 4300 children in placement in Connecticut. On any given day there can be as many as 7 children in need of a foster family. We hope you will come and hear about the experience of fostering from the different perspectives of those involved, and to learn about the different types of foster care and adoption opportunities that exist in CT through the Department of Children and Families and through other private provider agencies. We have need for all kinds of families and for different levels of care, from short term temporary placements to long term care, therapeutic fostering, relative fostering and even adoption. Please join us for this recruitment event on Saturday, July 28th, from 8:30 – 12 at Klingberg Family Centers, 345 Linwood Street, New Britain, CT. By joining this event your application process will be expedited, as we will have recruiters on hand from all the agencies. Breakfast and raffle prizes will be provided. As well as post training hours for current foster parents who bring a potential foster parent.
